Addison Trail and Willowbrook High Schools

This November, voters will decide on a bond referendum to improve Addison Trail and Willowbrook high schools. The plan addresses critical needs in safety, aging infrastructure, accessibility, and career-readiness spaces, all without a net tax rate increase.

What the Plan Provides…

Both schools face many of the same facility challenges. The referendum would fund similar improvements at each campus, including:

Safety & security enhancements

Mandated life-safety improvements

ADA accessibility updates

Critical infrastructure improvements

Career & Technical Education classroom updates

Performing arts & athletics space improvements

How This is Possible Without a Net Tax Rate Increase…

District 88's last referendum was approved nearly 20 years ago. As those bonds are paid off, the District can issue new bonds to fund improvements without increasing the net tax rate.

Simply Put...

Old debt paid off

New bonds fund improvements

Resulting tax rate stays the same

Why Now…

Addison Trail and Willowbrook high schools are 60 & 67 years old. Facility assessments found critical needs that routine maintenance alone can no longer address. Key challenges include:

Outdated safety & security systems

Aging infrastructure

Required life-safety improvements

Limited ADA accessibility

Outdated Career & Technical Education spaces

Aging performing arts and athletic spaces, often used by the community

How Students & the Community Benefit…

$0 net tax rate increase

Industry-standard career-training spaces

Safer, more secure schools

Reliable, energy-efficient facilities

Better ADA accessibility

Stronger teacher recruitment and retention

Protecting existing facilities

Protecting property values
